M.D.L. Simpson was the husband of A. A. Ritchie's second daughter Martha, George H. Elliott husband of the third daughter, Ellen. E. A. Ritchie is written out in other deeds at the time as Esther A. Ritchie, the youngest of the Ritchie's four daughters. The eldest daughter, Eliza, had died in 1868. The only surviving son, A.A. Ritchie Jr. maintained his property and moved to Lake County with his wife and three children.
