When was this photo of Middletown taken? And from what vantage point?
There appears to be a church a couple of inches right of center. The first church in Middletown, a frame structure, was built in 1871. It was replaced by the stone church that is now Middletown Methodist in 1894.
Is that St. Helena Creek in the foreground? The road veers off to the west much as Hwy 29 does today,
and connects with what could be Bush Street.
